DO NOT contact the Whitlash office for confirmation, as it is extremely busy (processing up to 200 applications daily). If the title is NOT in your name, then on the Title the seller must sign as the seller, and your name must appear as the buyer. Partial submissions are not allowed.
Vehicles not requiring a Title - if you are exporting equipment that does not require a Title, you must complete the "No Title Required" Addendum (click here to download). - A copy of the Bill of Sale.
- Loans/liens - by signing off their interest on the original Title, the lien holder indicates that the loan has been satisfied. If the lien has not been removed, but the lien holder does not object to export, then you must obtain from the lien holder a Letter of Permission on their company letterhead allowing you to export the vehicle from the United States. This Letter of Permission must bear an original signature of the lien holder and the date when it was signed. In addition to the Letter of Permission, you must obtain a Certified Screen Print of the title information from the DMV (the title information, NOT the registration information), and it must have affixed to it an original signature of a DMV official. Faxes of the Letter of Permission and the Certified Screen Print are acceptable to initiate the clearance checks.
DO NOT submit your Recall Clearance Letter to the U.S. CBP office, as it is not required.
Assuming your documentation above is accurate and complete, a CBP official will begin the export checks which are completed within 72 hours of receipt of your fax. DO NOT contact the Whitlash office for confirmation, as it is extremely busy (processing up to 200 applications daily). A CBP official will instead contact you if there are any problems with your submission, so be sure to include your contact information. We suggest you supply the telephone numbers for your home, work and mobile phone, as well as an e-mail address if you have one. If the CBP official cannot reach you, the 72-hour export check will not begin.
Please note that the owner/agent of the vehicle must supply the ORIGINALS of all documents above in person at the Port where you are crossing at the time of export.
* (A "vehicle" is any "self-propelled" automobile, truck, tractor, bus , motorcycle, motor home, self-propelled agricultural machinery, self-propelled construction equipment, self-propelled special-use equipment, and anything self-propelled designed from running on land, but not on rail or water.
