Pleasure Craft Licences
YOU CAN DOWNLOAD BOAT LICENSING APPLICATION HEREAs of November 1, 2010, Transport Canada is the only federal institution issuing Pleasure Craft Licences. To obtain a free Pleasure Craft Licence, boaters must mail a completed application form, along with proof of vessel ownership and a signed copy of a valid piece of government-issued identification, to the Pleasure Craft Licensing Centre at the following address:

The Pleasure Craft Licensing program improves public safety and security by giving search and rescue and law enforcement agencies 24 hour, seven-day a week access to the licence information they need in emergency situations. It also provides data useful for tracking industry trends related to the many types of boating activity in Canada.

YOU CAN DOWNLOAD BOAT LICENSING APPLICATION HEREDid you know that any pleasure craft powered by a motor of 10 hp (7.5 kW) or more must have a valid licence? A pleasure craft licence allows search and rescue personnel and other agencies to quickly identify your boat in the event of an emergency.
Transport Canada's Office of Boating Safety has developed an easy to use Pleasure Craft Licence application kit. You can get them:
- online at the Office of Boating Safety Web site;
- at any Service Canada Centre; and
- through regional Office of Boating Safety Centres.
